Dr. Sher is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the USC School of Medicine and the Division of Transplantation and Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery. Additionally, she is the Director, Academic Education and Clinical Research, Abdominal Organ Transplantation.

Dr. Sher graduated from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and did her residency training at Mount Sinai Medical Center, in New York. Following residency, Dr. Sher did her Transplantation Fellowship training at the University of Pittsburgh. Between 1988 and 2001, Dr. Sher worked as a hepatobiliary and liver transplantation surgeon in Los Angeles. She joined the USC faculty in August, 2001.

Dr. Sher has participated in the surgery and management of more than 700 patients and has an interest in post-operative management of the transplant recipient. He interests include immunosuppressive regimens, the rejection phenomenon, tolerance induction and Hepatitis C. Dr. Sher edits the journal Current Opinion in Organ Transplantation which summarizes the latest developments in the clinical and basic science arenas of organ transplantation. She is currently coordinating several research studies involving immunosuppressive management, new surgical agents in liver resection and new anti-microbial agents.
